Types of Large Gauge Jewelry

When I first stretched my earlobes to 0 gauge, the types of available jewelry were confusing to me. There were so many new terms! Plugs, talons, tapers, tunnels, etc. And then there’s the materials: steel, acrylic, bone, etc. I stretched to 00 gauge awhile back, so I was looking at jewelry again, and I figured I’d write the guide I was looking for in the first place. In case you’re curious about all the different… Keep Reading

00 Gauge Ears

Back in August 2009, I posted about how I’d stretched my ears to 0 gauge. But I completely forgot to post when I went to 00 gauge! I did it in August this year, so they could be stretched by Alchemy. Dreadlocks – November 2010

I’m getting ready to do a bunch of maintenance on my dreadlocks, which will involve taking out some of the decorations that are in there now and adding in a lot more. I’ve got a plan for how I want my head done when I give birth, and I’m almost ready to get started on that. So I thought it would be nice to make sure I had some photos of the way my hair is now. Penguin Tattoos

Joshua and I finally got our penguin tattoos that I mentioned in this post. We got them done at Only You Tattoo in Atlanta, GA. We looked around a bit for a place to get them in Knoxville, but then we were going to be in Atlanta around the right time, so we just went with a place there that a friend recommended.

Pulling our penguins from the book Your Personal Penguin, Joshua got the penguin from the page with, “Look at these wings, so perfect to hold you.” I got the dancing penguin from the cover (mine’s on the left). They’re about the same size, the photos are just taken from different distances. Keep Reading

Dread Trim – 6 Inches Gone

I had planned to trim up my dreads come summertime, but even though it’s still winter, they were starting to get heavy. Especially after bathing, when they’re all wet, my dreadlocks are very heavy. When it’s warm, they feel like wool on my neck. Which is partly literally true – the yarn wraps are wool.

Anyway, after a shower the other day, I decided the time had come, season notwithstanding. I picked 6 inches as the right number. I took each individual dreadlock, measured up six inches, and snipped it off. Keep Reading
