The Sunday to Forever: Dylan

The Sunday to Forever table of contents: 1. Acknowledgments 2. At Home 3. The Hospital 4. Dylan 5. Musings During the c-section, I think I felt when they pulled Dylan out. It felt like my insides were being turned inside out. Then I heard Dylan start wailing, and it was the most beautiful sound in the world. Until that moment, I must not have thought this was really going to happen. I never really believed… Keep Reading

The Sunday to Forever table of contents: 1. Acknowledgments 2. At Home 3. The Hospital 4. Dylan 5. Musings Before anything much could happen at the hospital, I was asked a gazillion questions. They were all easy to answer, but I felt like I was moving really slowly and everything took great effort. I was asked what my choice was for pain relief. I laughed and said I’d meant to give birth at home. She… Keep Reading
The Sunday to Forever: At Home

The Sunday to Forever table of contents: 1. Acknowledgments 2. At Home 3. The Hospital 4. Dylan 5. Musings (I don’t have any photos from the labor at home, so I just added another Dylan pic!) I had been stressing out for a few days because I was almost 43 weeks pregnant, the latest I was comfortable going at home. Musings Many good stories start out with acknowledgments, so that’s where I’m going to start my birth story. Thank you to Joshua who was by my side every step of the way. At every moment, it was incredibly meaningful to me that he was right there with me and that we did this amazing thing together. Thank… Keep Reading

Five sheep have been living at The Wallow, but today it will become only four. Jake is a ram lamb and he’s approaching sexual maturity. This presents two problems. One is that his mother is in the flock, and it wouldn’t be ideal for them to breed. Two is that the flock has another ram, and they’ll probably start fighting pretty soon. Result: today Jake goes to the processor. I wanted to get some photos… Keep Reading

I’m still taking it easy after Dylan’s arrival, and I haven’t written anything new yet. Here’s a quick little post I’ve had queued up for awhile, though: I like to look at ads and other media and notice what Mother Culture is trying to tell me. Here’s an ad that jumped out at me: I’m not sure exactly what Accenture does, and I couldn’t get much more information out of their website, but I find… Keep Reading
Pausing

Everything is going wonderful after the birth. Dylan is a joy and I’m feeling pretty good. Things are moving slowly, though, so posting will probably be sporadic over the next couple of weeks. Everything is ticking along like normal here at The Wallow. I feed the pigs in the morning and evening; the sheep are now on a rapid rotation so they get moved at least once a day; I’m mostly neglecting my garden, but… Keep Reading
