Winter Kitteh

Here at the Wallow, Joshua and I had a nice tail-end to fall with our new cat, Juli, usually affectionately just called Kitteh (we love LOLcats). She freely came and went from the house and frequently brought us dead little rodents and dropped them on the front welcome mat. One day she brought one to the back door, but I was sitting there reading. She looked around for a bit, then sat down in front of me and slowly ate it. Gross, and also fascinating.

Now that it’s almost winter and it’s much colder outside, she doesn’t have much interest in staying out. Very occasionally, she sits at the door to go outside, but then just a minute or two later she’s back at the door wanting back in. I caught this picture of her waiting outside the front door for someone to let her in.

That’s not ice on the door; it’s just the decorative frosting. Still, the picture reminds me of an icy cold day, since Kitteh wanted back in literally just a minute after going outside. She was very patient and adorable while I snapped a couple of pictures before letting her in!

  1. Please update Watching Backwards! I just discovered it last week and became completely engrossed in it before realizing you stopped updating it. I don’t know if I can go on living without knowing what your thoughts were in 1991. :-)

  2. I just realized I totally missed the opportunity to say “I can haz updatez?”

  3. @Harrisburg Exile – You want to tell me who you are? :-) I do have plans to get back to Watching Backwards, but it’s less satisfying to do it for the unnamed masses than if I know who’s reading.

For those reading here who aren’t familiar with this, at watchingbackwards.blogspot.com I started taking my journals from childhood and typing them in word for word into the public view. Boring, and also completely fascinating.

  4. Heh. I’m afraid if I tell you who I am it’ll come off a little too stalkerish, especially considering we never had much contact when we both lived in the ‘burg.

I will tell you, though, that I came across your blog while googling the names of a couple relatives, who happen to appear in some of your most recent posts on Watching Backwards. How’s that for a hint? Cryptic enough for you? ;-)

    It really is fascinating, though.
